In 2022 a rich blend of classic and modern men's haircuts is taking front and centre stage. I am loving the throwback to classic lines and clean fades. And, some of the more progressive styles are so loud and fun that they are hard to shy away from. Let's take a look at the 7 most trendy cuts and styles we are seeing in hairstyles for men this year. I am excited to see what you think!

1) The Mid-length Bald Fade
This modern take on the pompadour is making a splash with short hair lovers who don’t mind a little maintenance. The medium length on the top is often given a swept-back, volumized look. This requires a great product like Da' Dude Da' Wax and a little time with a blow dryer to perfect. But, the result is a flattering classic look that catches eyes and is fun to play with. The very tight skin fade on the sides and back also help you go a bit longer between cuts while still looking fresh.

2) Undercut with Medium Length on Top
This cut is super fun and versatile. This is a cut that looks smart and professional with almost no maintenance on your days off. It has short clean faded sides and back paired with fun, flirty length on top. The undercut is often recommended for those with very thick, dense hair. This haircut is ever-evolving. Some form of it is always in style so it is also a great pick if consistency is important to you.

3) The Mullet
Who would have imagined that this iconic haircut from the 1980s would come back with a vengeance? We are seeing a few new takes on the mullet. And, plenty of the classic shape with all its business in the front and a wild party in the back. The length in the back provides options for styling. The shorter stretch in the front and on the sides provides versatility and movement. The mullet is not for the faint of heart. It does need some daily styling and maintenance but done properly it can be a standout look in 2022.
4) The Flat Top
The flat top is really in fashion for my curly hair friends out there. It compliments tight curls with a signature clean fade and high, balanced weight on top. This tried and true haircut hasn’t so much made a comeback as never really went out of style. Some more exaggerated versions have recently paraded on the runway. They have fun colours incorporated into the hair and some clean lines cut into the sides. The flat top compliments many different textures and densities. That is why it always strikes a great profile.
5) Classic Men's Tapered Haircut
This timeless scissor cut has never looked so modern and fashion-forward. The current take on this cut has a little more length than its predecessors. But, the same great shape and movement are still there. For some people, it's extra important to stretch out times between haircuts right now. A longer length that still looks stylish and can be styled easily moments before a Zoom meeting is key. There is a version of this cut for every type of hair, from ultra curly and thick to fine and straight

6) Long hair with an Undercut
We first started seeing this trend a few years ago and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. Long flowing locks coupled with the neatly shaved undercut. This is quickly becoming a rugged tradition among people who want options in styling with an edge to it. Achieving this popular look can vary in levels of difficulty. It mainly depends on your natural texture and density. People with more fine hair might struggle to keep their hair looking full and healthy. They need to carefully choose products that promote fuller hair. Those with very straight hair may find they need to have the undercut cut more often. This is to keep it from becoming noticeable. Hence, the long mane looks great on lots of hair types. Although it takes a while to grow to a length you’re happy with, it is worth the wait.
7) Medium Length with a High Fade
This is a really fun twist on a traditional high fade and the added length on top changes it up. You can wear this cut with little to no styling involved. But if you’re feeling adventurous, slicked back or parted on the side for more volume is an option. A great product that can give you volume is Da' Salt Water Spray. The high fade gives a beautiful contrast to the depth and length on top. It creates a nice balanced look that does a great job of drawing the eye. You can play up this style with the right products and a little time. This style works for most hair types that have strong hairlines. And depending on how straight or curly your hair is, it can be little to no styling work.
In 2022 hairstyles are becoming less defined by gender stereotypes. Today's cuts are more by lifestyle and design choices. It's more about what works for you in this post-pandemic world and less about what you feel is expected. We are seeing popular looks that are more versatile and have a longer grow-out. This year's hair is fun and funky but somehow keeps a classic vibe and focuses on functionality.
