What is the Best Strong Hair Wax for Men out of Oribe & Da'Dude

Are you in the market for a new hair wax? You’re probably scrolling through the internet in search of the perfect hair wax. The internet gives you endless options, but not all of them are worth your money. Strong-hold hair wax is a must-have in your routine and can change your look.

I’m going to compare two popular hair waxes - the ‘Da Wax’ and the ‘Rough Luxury Molding Wax’ - to let you know which one is worth your money. We’ll cover everything from their ingredients list, which has to the strongest hold and which one gives you the best value.

Da Wax by Da Dude vs. Rough Luxury Molding Wax by Oribe

Product Packaging

While the ‘Rough Luxury Molding Wax’ comes in a sleek black tub, it’s something that will get easily lost amongst your other products. If sustainability is important to you, then the packaging of Da Wax is eco-friendly and uses bamboo. While the Oribe wax marketing positions it as a ‘luxury’ product, the Da Wax comes with its own canvas carrying case. If you are always on the go, either heading to the gym or travelling around the world, then the Da Wax can come with you. Once you’ve finished with the Da Wax tub, you can wash it out and use it as storage.

Whats Inside It?

You want a wax that you can easily wash out of your hair at the end of the day. Da Dude’s first ingredient is water, meaning it won’t clog up your hair. While both products are paraben-free, the Da Dude wax uses beeswax as their base, whereas Oribe uses Lanolin wax in their ‘Rough Luxury Molding Wax’. Beeswax will hydrate your hair thanks to its moisturising properties, and it’ll give you a sleek and smooth hairstyle. The ingredients within the Rough Luxury Molding Wax leaves it feeling heavier and harder to massage into your fingers to apply to your hair. The main drawback of the Rough Luxury Molding Wax is how difficult it is to use, which means it’s not the best choice for an everyday hair wax if you want a quick and smooth application.

The Finish

For those of you that are looking for a natural and matte finish, then the Da Wax is ideal for you. It’ll give volume and texture to your hair without making it look like you haven’t washed your hair in a week. The wax is a hybrid consistency between a cream and a paste, making it ideal for a quick application.

Meanwhile the ‘Rough Luxury Molding Wax’ has a semi-matte finish, meaning that if you over apply it, you could end up with a little too much shine. It adds volume and texture to your hair, but you’ll need to keep an eye on how much you apply.

The Hold

If your hair is very thick and you struggle to mould it into place, then it is likely that the Oribe wax won’t be strong enough for you. Although it’s advertised as being able to be used on wet hair, you’ll struggle to get optimum results. It’s likely best used for layered hair where you can target it on just the section that you want to style, such as your fringe or side parting.

Meanwhile, the Da Wax is one of the strongest hair waxes and is suitable for all hair types. Using just a pea-size amount of product, you can quickly get your desired look in under 60 seconds. When you apply it in the morning, you won’t have to worry about touching it up throughout the day.

If you’re in the market for a product that you use for a short event like a dinner, then the Oribe wax could work for you. You could make the Oribe waxwork by adding additional products into your hair, but that’ll only weigh it down and increase the cost of your daily hair routine. If you’re looking for a hair wax that you can use every day and under any conditions, then the wax by Da Dude is the perfect purchase for you.

Which One Gives You The Best Value?

The ‘Rough Luxury Soft Molding Wax’ is one of the most expensive hair waxes on the market. It will set you back a pretty penny for every tub. To make matters worse, you only get 50ml of product per tub. You’re looking at needing to use about a teaspoon amount of wax for every application. With less in the tub, and more required to style your hair, you could go through one tub in a few weeks. By comparison, you get 100ml with ‘Da Wax’, and you only need a pea-size amount to do your entire head of hair. One tub is likely to last you several months, and you can twice as much product than you would with the ‘Rough Luxury Soft Molding Wax’.

I wouldn’t recommend the Rough Luxury Molding Wax as you’re essentially paying a premium price for the ‘Oribe’ name. The truth is that the Oribe wax is overpriced for what it is. It would work for a short time, like for photographs or an event, but it wouldn’t be able to perform well for daily use. The Da Wax gives you a strong hold regardless of your hair type, and it’s value for money outperforms the Oribe wax by a long shot.
