Don’t Wash with Shampoo Every Day

Let’s set the record straight. It is perfectly fine to wash your hair every day, but you don't always have to use shampoo.

Regular shampooing can be harsh on both your hair and scalp. It can strip away all the natural oils you need for a healthy shine, especially if your shampoo isn’t sulfate-free.

You should only shampoo two to three times per week. Use both water and conditioner every other time. This is a must-follow rule, especially if you have dry hair!

When Drying Your Hair Avoid Rubbing Hard

After you step out of the shower, don’t aggressively dry your hair with a towel. This can end up with you losing a considerable amount of hair. Instead, pat it dry.

Remember, hair can be fragile! It is even more prone to breakage when wet.

For the same reason, you should avoid using a brush on your hair when it is wet, as it will tug and pull out your hair. If you really need to, use a wide-tooth comb instead.

Less Heat is Better

Always be careful of heat styling tools, as the high temperature can weaken your hair fibers. For this reason, you must buy an effective heat protectant product, such as Argan oil or a heat spray.

Let Your Hair Breathe

Occasionally, you should not do anything to your hair. This means applying no wax, no gel, no hairspray, and avoid using a blow dryer, straighteners or a curling iron.

By doing so, it will provide your hair and scalp with a chance to breathe and restore itself.

Avoid Dyeing or Bleaching

Try to avoid adding dye or bleach onto your hair. These products contain substances such as ammonia that can significantly dry your hair or damage your scalp.

If you do dye or bleach your hair, always ensure your hair is in the best condition to do so.

Don’t Sleep with Wet Hair

Whatever you do, don’t go to sleep with wet hair. As you might move a lot in your sleep and will be pressing your head against a pillow, this can lead to hair breakage.

Use Hair Masks

To ensure your hair is in excellent condition, you will need to find a good hair mask. It will ensure your hair both looks and feels healthy.

There are many masks available on the market to try. Or you can make your own DIY hair mask using some of the ingredients below.

Argan oil is amazing in hair masks, particularly if you have damaged hair. The vitamin E in the oil helps smooth frayed hair shafts and seal split ends. The omega fatty acids work to strengthen your hair. Leaving it in the hair for 15 to 30 minutes as a mask is a fantastic way to reap the benefits of argan oil

Avocado helps soothe the scalp and promotes long, strong, healthy hair growth.

Eggs are full of protein which helps to strengthen your hair, while adding texture, shine and bounce to it. Egg on its own is good for hair, but adding olive oil takes the hair mask to another level... Olive oil makes hair soft, silky and smooth and also keeps scalp dryness at bay.

Coconut oil is rich in antimicrobial properties, lauric acid, and medium-chain fatty acids. The coconut oil strengthens hair, conditions the scalp and helps hair to regrow.

Honey strengthens the hair follicles, curbing hair fall. Honey also comprises antibacterial and antiseptic qualities.
